HISTORY OF RCCG LIFE GATE

In the Beginning…

On November 14, 2004 Pastor Femi Otegbade, Pastor-In-Charge (PIC)  RCCG Promised Land, Ajah, Lagos established the RCCG Life Gate Parish and appointed Pastor Abraham Annam as the pioneer Parish Pastor. Pastor Abraham, his wife, Sis Funto Annam, and about 10 other workers were sent out as the pioneer team. The parish settled at its current permanent site at KM 42, Sangotedo, Lekki-Epe Expressway, after moving from two or three locations.

— Acquisition of two (2) plots of land

— Construction of the first Church-owned structure with seating capacity of about 300

— The church grew to about 190 members (average attendance on Sunday) by Sept 2010. To God be all the glory!

 

A New Phase Begins…

In October 2010, as a part of the general transfer of Pastors in RCCG Nigeria, Pastor Segun Banwo of RCCG Light of the World (Alpha Beach Road, Lekki, Lagos) was transferred to take over as the Pastor-In-Charge (PIC) of RCCG Life Gate. Pastor Segun Banwo and his wife, Pastor Dolapo Banwo, resumed at RCCG Life Gate Parish in October 2010.

2010/2011

— Massive upgrades of existing facilities, internal and external, to enhance attractiveness and functionality. The team rallied around the call to create a MAGNIFICENT environment.

 

 

2012

— Acquisition of additional small strip of land adjoining the one plot on which the existing church building sat

 

— Construction of 1,000 seater, 3-level auditorium, (COVENANT HOUSE 1)

 

 

2013

— Acquisition of additional 3 plots of land, along the expressway, adjacent to the existing facility, creating a total of 5.5 plots integrated facility.

 

— Construction of a world class restroom (toilet) facility, which became a center of attraction and photo center for the congregation. 

— Parish became an Area Headquarters (Area 7, LP34)

 

 

2014

— Construction of a world class 3-plot garden and car park facility (COVENANT HOUSE 2), with water fountain. Another center of attraction and photo center for the congregation.

 

— Establishment of a new Parish, RCCG Christ The Rock, with Dcns Ugo Okoro, and husband Bro Theo Okoro leading a team of 12 other workers.

 

 

2015

— Construction of a 200-seater auditorium (THE BOULEVARD), to create additional capacity to accommodate the rapid expansion in membership.

 

 

2016

— Construction of a world class 1,000 seater, 3-level Children Church (Leaders Academy). COVENANT HOUSE 3

 

— Commencement of 2nd Service (Dew of Heaven) on Sundays

— Establishment of a new Parish, RCCG Lord of Hosts, with Bro Tosin Eniola & wife Sis Wunmi Eniola leading a team of 12 other workers

— Commencement of Victorious Sisters Fellowship which holds every Thursday.

 

 

2017/2018

— Massive infusion of audio, video, lighting and web-based technologies to enhance the worship experience, promote interaction among members, and beam activities of the church to a worldwide audience.

 

— Commencement of 3rd Service (reFRESH) on Sundays.

— Commencement of weekly Food Bank (FB) providing varieties of lunch packs to at least 250 members every Sunday, free of charge. 

— Commencement of DAILY 6-hour (12 midnight – 6am) Workers Prayer Chain.

— Approval of the Parish as Redeemer’s International Leadership Academy (RILA) center.

 

 

2019

— Acquisition of a world class Light Emitting Diode (LED) screen and messaging platform. The light upon the hill and a center of attraction in the community.

 

— Commencement of Life Gate Scholarship (LGS) to provide financial assistance for education of indigent members of the congregation, up to secondary school in general and up to university level for exceptionally gifted children.

— Commencement of weekly Medical Hour (MH), with Doctors, Nurses and other medical professionals (members of the church) providing free medical consultancy services, every Sunday

— Commencement of a 9-month practical Leadership Training, Stage 5 (LT5) for Workers, Ministers and Pastors

— Commencement of ultra-modern Music Studio 

— Establishment of a new Parish, RCCG Jehovah El-Shaddai, with Dcns Isoken Igharo leading a team of 12 other workers + 1 (her Mum, a dutiful caregiver in the children church)

— Two additional new parishes established in December 2019

RCCG Jehovah Nissi

RCCG Jehovah Rohi

— Installation of an integrated Electronic Attendance System (EAS) and an Access Control System to replace manual attendance register for workers and also control entry into the Church premises. 

— Acquired 820m2 land to further expand the landmass of the church.

 

 

2020

Developed into Covenant House 4, inaugurated in 2020. Currently used as ultra-modern Cark Park 2

 

 

2023

— The Parish became Zonal Headquarters in January 2023 (Zone 3, LP34)

 

— Established The Covenant Child (TCC) Creche and Preschool in August 2023

— The reFresh Service (3rd Service) was restructured and renamed iGnite Service

— In October 2023, a minister was sent out to pastor Restoration Tabernacle

— Established RCCG Jehovah Shalom in December 2023

 

 

June 2024

— Commenced daily morning prayers at 6am, Monday- Friday 

— Construction and inauguration of ultra-modern Cafeteria and Sports Center

— The Church has grown from about 190 in 2010 to over 3,000 as at April 2019. With more than 4,000 new converts during that period, and about 500 workers.
